This is the orginal picture of a very old recipe for Chocolate Cake. It is from a recipe found in a magazine years ago by my cousin Renae..She made it a long, long time ago when we used to work in my mothers restaurant....it is so easy to make, using no bowl, clean up is easy. It will be your new favorite cake!
You stir all dry ingredients together, pretty easy so far, right?
Then make three wells, and put the vinegar in one,
the oil in one, and the vanilla in one, this is fun.
pour 2 cups of cold coffee over the top and stir until smooth, chocolate and coffee, what can be better?
sprinkle the top with the cinnamon sugar and bake!
Here is the finished cake, it has a real nice crust on top, I dare you to wait until it cools, it smells heavenly mmmmm
Serve it warm or cold with soft whip cream, or ice cream, so moist and chocolately!!!!
Stir Crazy Cake
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup cooking oil
2 Tablespoons vinegar
1 Tablespoon vanilla
2 cups cold coffee (or water)
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Put flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar, cocoa, soda and salt into an ungreased 13"x9" metal baking pan. Stir with a fork to mix; form 3 wells in flour mixture. Pour oil into one well, vinegar in one and vanilla in one. Pour cold coffee over all ingredients and stir with fork until well mixed. Do not beat. Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes.
Yummy! I'm going to have to try this recipe...and then bring it to work so we don't eat it all.
ReplyDeleteThis is so very cool. Way to go Deb and Renae!
ReplyDeleteI could just reach right in the picture and take a bite!
ReplyDeleteI am making this recipe for a cater today. We served it at Mom's farm last night. The AA people meet out in Dad's workshop 3 times a week. On Mondays we serve dessert. The cake was still warm and we served it with whipped cream. It was such a hit.
ReplyDeleteI am doubling the recipe today so that our staff can try it too. Yum!!!
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I used to make this with my mom when I was little, and we lost the recipe. The cake is baking in the oven now, and it is taking me back to my childhood! :)
