Fried Oysters

Oysters to me is one of those foods you either love or hate....I am one of the one's that love them...you never encourage anyone close to you to love them...ever...then you would have to share...so you do the opposite...starting with your own children, you say "you will not like these, they don't taste good" and "maybe when you are older, you will aquire a taste"

Fried Oysters is another one that is a procedure...Buy the extra small oysters, they are still plenty big...use 3 shallow dishes, one with milk, one with seasoned beaten egg, and one with  flour that has been seasoned with salt and pepper....soak the oysters for a few minutes in the milk...it will take away most of the strongness from the oysters...season the egg if you like, I put several shakes of tabasco in mine, now dip the oysters in the egg and then in the seasoned flour....

lay them out on a lightly floured board and season a little again if you like....now were ready to fry....

heat a non stick fry pan to medium and add a 1/4 cup of vegetable oil.....and
fry....when the edges turn brown it is time to turn them over....

they are so good.....just like this....or you can dip them in cocktail sauce or tarter sauce....

or just have them on your salad.....

Cheers to Happy  !!

  1. Probably my favorite way to have oysters; on a Ceasar Salad. I do, however, love them for breakfast in an omlette with bacon (Hangtown Fry). If anyone loves oysters, and has not had Hangtown Fry, made famous in the gold rush days, you should try it. Delish!
